A nobleman sitting on a stool beside him grins evilly, a message tucked inside the front of his kimono.
At lower right, a kneeling man in a pale yellow kamishimo looks up with a solemn frown, his face tinged with blue, a sign of his own impending death.
A young boy at right reacts with surprise, holding his hands out in alarm.
